Rico was surrendered to us in 2023 at about 3 years old. The previous owner had done everything the pet store employee told him to do. This is often the case in bad husbandry. Rico was fed dried crickets from a jar. He would occasionally receive fresh lettuce. He lived in a 10 gallon tank under a red heat lamp. Poor baby was almost blind and crippled with severe Metabolic Bone Disease when he arrived.
Today, Rico can catch live crickets. He gets leafy greens daily. Rico has a 40 gallon tank but prefers just running loose in the house unless basking. He has UVB and goes outside regularly to get the real stuff. He still has difficulty with balance and walking. But the improvements he's made are remarkable.
